Declutter before you organize
No acrylic drawer system fixes owning too much. Pull everything out, keep what you reached for in the last six months, and toss anything that smells off or has changed texture. Organizing starts with less.
Check the expiry dates first
Mascara lasts about three months after opening; liquid foundation and concealer about a year; powders up to two years; lipstick around a year. The small open-jar symbol on the packaging (6M, 12M) tells you the intended life — expired eye products in particular are an infection risk, not a bargain.
Build a daily capsule kit
Put your true everyday products — the one base, one mascara, one blush, one lip you actually wear — in a small pouch that lives where you get ready. The rest is the "library" you visit for occasions. Mornings get faster instantly.
Store by category, visible at a glance
Dividers or small cups for lips, eyes, base and brushes turn a chaotic drawer into grabbable storage. Store products upright with labels facing out; if you can see it, you will use it.
Keep brushes clean and dry
Wash face brushes and sponges weekly with gentle soap, and let them dry flat with bristles off the counter edge. Clean tools apply makeup better and keep breakouts away.
The one-in-one-out rule
